Open every Saturday 9am-2pm / May 29th - October 30th

Our mission is to increase access to affordable, fresh, and local foods for Lancaster City residents, stimulate economic activity by acting as a small business catalyst, and revitalize our neighborhood by creating a sense of place within the Historic East Side.

The Eastern Market is one of the 8 historic markets located in Lancaster City. Constructed within 6 months in 1883, Eastern Market was one of the five Victorian market houses built to serve the cities nineteenth-century population. The New Era account of the opening day stated that: "Every stall was occupied, and the gratifying presence of so many farmers was remarked by all. Produce was very plenty, and prices were reasonable...It was quite an event for the people of the East End..." Closed as a market house in 1927, the building was altered to house a car dealership, then Jackson Marine Sales, then Housing Development Corporation (HDC), and finally as Tabor Community Services.

In 2006 the East King Improvement District reclaimed part of the market house's historic use and opened an open-air farmers market. A wide selection of fresh, locally grown and organic produce, multicultural prepared foods, fresh-cut flowers and herbs, free-range eggs, homemade bread and baked goods will be available. The festive atmosphere will be enhanced with special events and live music every Saturday starting at 11am. Local artists will display their handiwork every Second Saturday.

Starting May 29th, the market is open every Saturday from 9am-2pm. We close for the season on October 30th.
